My previous Siesta had the headphone socket on top and that was much easier to use. Even then, you need small fingers to insert or remove the plugs. It certainly is not for user convenience as to insert or remove either a headphone plug or a USB connector means lifting the unit up or tipping the whole unit onto its front. The only reason I can see for how they have been positioned is that it allows the unit to be placed flush against a wall. Now possibly the worst feature - the recessed headphone and USB sockets. Although you can adjust the volume of the radio alarm, there is no adjustment on the tone. Fortunately, my wife has a Siesta Mii which has a much louder and more effective tone alarm. The tone alarm is, for me at least, a bit too quiet, even when it gets louder as you ignore it. You need some way to control all the settings the alarms give you, after all! As I was used to the multiple presses needed to set alarms, this didn't bother me. Worst seems to be if the light levels go suddenly from very bright to very dark.īuttons mostly work as expected. The display on the Rise is large and generally, the auto-brightness is fine but sometimes it can be a bit too dim to see clearly. As I don't have a phone that charges wirelessly, that model wasn't of interest either and the S6 - well, who really needs 40 presets? I find 20 more than adequate. I rejected the next model up with Bluetooth as all this does is make it into a bluetooth speaker - had it meant it could connect to bluetooth earphones, I'd have been much more interested. The Siesta Rise seemed to be the nearest equivalent. My previous Pure Siesta gave up after maybe 10 years so, as I'd been very happy with it, I looked at the current Pure models.
